"The Rorschach Pansy Test" refers to the Rorschach test which is a psychological test in which subjects' perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then analyzed. In this work the pansy petals are all subtly different.
They are paired - a reference to same-sex relationships - and arranged to emphasize the negative spaces (society).
The arrangement is a matrix and the pins they hang from reference butterflies caught in nature and placed in a display case.
