clown head & pile of coins, mirror, in old microscope box
by Dale Copeland, 2008
There are letters at the bottom of the mirrored door that say SMILE.
Put on your public face, assume your public persona when you open the door and face the world.
But what does the clown see when he's alone, shut up with his mirror and his little pile of coins?
What do we know of ourselves?
Apart from our bank balance, what can we really know?
My mother told me "Nice people don't talk about sex or religion or death.
Our passions, our comforts, our hopes, our fears.
What else is worth talking about?
